Pompano, Cobia and Snappers are abundant in these waters, but if you can’t manage to catch your own dinner, there are plenty of excellent restaurants in the area as well.
Known as the Sailfish Capital of the World, Martin County lives up to it’s incredible reputation. The waters in Martin are home to over 800 species of fish, including their famed Sailfish, making it a fisherman’s oasis.
Set up on one of the lovely beaches in this area, such as Tiger Shores or Jensen, or take advantage of one of the local boat charters for a deep sea fishing experience. No matter if you’re a master angler or just starting out, Martin County should be on your destination list!
St. Lucie County
If you’re looking to break some fishing records, St. Lucie is definitely the place to do it! Most notable in St. Lucie County is the town of Fort Pierce. A well-kept secret, Fort Pierce is known for having sea trout in excess of 17 pounds.
If you crave an open ocean fishing experience, take a chartered boat 10 miles out. Due to its unique location and the curve of the Gulf Stream, large fish migrate closer to the shores here than most other places in South Florida. Swordfish, snapper, grouper, wahoo and other prize fish are easier to catch than ever before!
